COLLABORATION IN AN ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE EDUCATOR PREPARATION PROGRAM

چکیده
Asynchronous online courses generally provide little opportunity for students to collaborate with peers. In a typical asynchronous course, work fairly independently and the main interaction peers is in discussion forums. Yet, professional standards teachers school leaders recognize collaborating stakeholders as significant responsibility (InTASC, 2013; Professional Standards Education Leaders, 2015). Acknowledging this, we wanted candidates an authentic experience communicating working teams, simultaneously make their coursework more interactive. This paper presentation will focus on how faculty education program addressed this problem of practice. It also describe steps taken identify redesign assignments that could become collaborative projects place independent student work. The results several semesters feedback from who were required teams complete be presented.

Recognising and promoting collaboration in an online asynchronous discussion
This paper reports on a study involving the identification and measurement of collaboration in an online asynchronous discussion (OAD). A conceptual framework served for the development of a model which conceptualises collaboration on a continuum of processes that move from social presence to production of an artefact. From this model, a preliminary instrument with six processes was developed. ...
متن کاملSYNCHRONOUS and ASYNCHRONOUS COLLABORATION: A PROGRAM of RESEARCH
Our work in CSCW encompasses both synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous forms of collaboration. For synchronous collaborations, we have demonstrated visual workspaces, shared remotely, to support both document editing on character-mode displays and execution of graphic primitives on bit-mapped displays. We have developed for operating systems a number of extensions to enhance their support f...
متن کاملAn asthma action plan created by physician, educator and patient online collaboration with usability and visual design optimization.
BACKGROUND Asthma action plans (AAPs), which decrease hospitalizations and improve symptom control, are recommended in guidelines, but are seldom delivered to patients. Existing AAPs have been developed by experts, without the inclusion of all stakeholders (such as patients with asthma) and without specifically addressing usability and visual design. OBJECTIVE Our objective was to develop a m...
متن کاملRemote Collaboration in WebLab - an Online Laboratory
WebLab, an online educational laboratory, lacks features that enable collaboration. We believe that collaborative and tutoring features would enhance the educational value of the system. An investigation into how collaborative features should be added to WebLab is presented. We analyze the groupware design issues of degree of awareness, synchronous vs. asynchronous, and role definition and resu...
متن کاملAnalysing Asynchronous Collaboration
In this paper we propose a framework for modelling asynchronous collaboration. Drawing on arguments that a taskbased approach is inappropriate for the analysis collaborative work we model collaboration in terms of the artefacts, users, and information flow involved. We illustrate the framework's potential through studies of shared care of diabetic patients, and discuss the implications of this ...
